US Airways and American West Airlines Corporate Information:

US Airways, which began operations in 1939, and America West Airlines, which began operations in 1983, have merged together to create the fifth largest domestic airline. US Airways, US Airways Shuttle and the US Airways Express operate approximately 4,000 flights per day and serve more than 225 communities in the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America.

  • Nearly 35,000 employees
  • 3,800+ daily flights (includes flights operating as US Airways and America West Airlines)
  • Part of the Star Alliance
  • As of 4/06 Operated with 710 planes (358 Mainline and 352 Express)
  • Publicly traded as UAIR (US Airways) and AWA (America West Airlines)

US Airways and America West Airlines Rewards Programs/Perks: 

US Airways' program is called Dividend Miles. America West Airlines' program is called FlightFund. They both offer award tickets in exchange for miles. There are other rewards that may be earned in exchange for miles. If you have a US Airways credit card (offered through Visa) you can earn miles for charges and redeem them for rewards. There are three status levels of membership: Silver Preferred, Gold Preferred, and Chairman's Preferred. Status members get mileage bonuses, priority boarding, complementary or discounted membership to the US Airways Club

Merging FlightFund & Dividend Miles:

  • Members of both Dividend Miles and FlightFund will be able to earn and redeem miles throughout their combined route network
  • Miles and segments earned in 2005 will count towards either Dividend Miles Preferred or FlightFund
  • Elite status America West Club members will have access to airport clubs across the expanded network
